CUNY Celebrates Historic $50 Million Gift to Lehman College from MacKenzie Scott Foundation
December 4, 2025The City University of New York today celebrated a historic $50 million gift to Lehman College from the MacKenzie Scott Foundation, the single largest donation in the school’s history. The gift, which was announced today at an event at Lehman College, builds on the MacKenzie Scott Foundation’s investment in CUNY, a total of nearly $130 million across five campuses including $80 million to Lehman.

CUNY and Brooklyn College Expand Dual Enrollment Program to Yeshiva Students
December 2, 2025CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez visited Yeshivah of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School today to highlight the expansion of CUNY’s dual enrollment College Now program to include independent religious schools, which began in 2024. This move expands CUNY’s reach into local communities and builds on the success of the 42-year-old College Now program, which gives high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses.

November 25, 2025Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has appointed 20 faculty and staff from the City University of New York to his Transition Committees. They join more than 400 New Yorkers selected to provide critical personnel and policy guidance to the incoming administration.

Petrie Foundation Awards Nearly $1.2 Million in New Funding for CUNY Food Pantries and Signature Career Readiness Initiative
November 25, 2025The City University of New York today announced that it was awarded more than $1 million from the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation this fall to advance key initiatives that support students’ success in the classroom and careers. These include efforts to ensure access to healthy food and support for the University’s newly announced CUNY Beyond, an ambitious five-year initiative to integrate career preparation across the University.

CUNY Chancellor Matos Rodríguez and Baruch College President Wu Stock Campus Pantry With Items Collected From Public Safety Officers’ Food Drive
November 19, 2025CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez and Baruch College President S. David Wu on Wednesday visited the school’s Bearcat food pantry for a food drive organized by the college’s Public Safety Office to support students facing food insecurity. As part of the “Give Back to Our Bearcats” initiative — named for the school’s mascot — Baruch’s public safety officers collected 800 donations such as pasta and soup packets. The Chancellor and President Wu joined student volunteers in delivering the items to the pantry and stocking them.
